Waterviews 002Frank Batten, Sr isn’t a household name; except to the millions he had directly or indirectly had an affect on. He has passed but his memory and legacy of leadership and community participation will continue on.http://hamptonroads.com/2009/09/frank-batten-sr-retired-landmark-chairman-dies-82 I only hope that when I pass someone will remember me as fondly as those he knew and touched remember him.

My daughter and her family live in the Tidewater area of Virginia, my oldest granddaughter, Bethany, attends Old Dominion University, my brother lives and works in Richmond, and I and my family grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. To top all of that off, my father-in-law watches, almost exclusively, The Weather Channel. What do all of these ties have in common? Frank Batten, Sr.

Mr. Batten was a successful entrepreneur, journalist and visionary; he was an honorable man of means who walked his talk and expected others whom he worked with and associated with to walk along with him. He truly lived a life that shows through giving and leading with sound ethics, integrity and a strong sense of fairness, you can be success and remembered fondly – even as a journalist and big business owner.
